Julianne Hyrcza, Aquinas Academy class of 2014, graduated from The Catholic University of America in 2018 with a BA in Elementary Education, Cum Laude and received the Thomas E. Shields Award for Excellence in Teacher Education. Julianne is volunteer teaching for two years through the Urban Catholic Teacher Corps.
The Urban Catholic Teacher Corps is a Boston College program for Bachelor of Arts - Education graduates that includes the opportunity to volunteer teach for two years while also obtaining a master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction. With a total of 22 members, the volunteers live as a community to grow in spirituality, social justice, and relationships with one another, their students, and their community. They are given this chance to work in urban catholic schools so that they may become culturally responsive and reflective persons in their vocations as teachers.
I will be teaching fourth grade for the next two years at Trinity Catholic Academy and am eager to see how I will grow as a teacher, a learner, and as a person of faith. As an educator and someone who loves the very idea of learning, I am so grateful to be a part of this program and I am looking forward to the experiences I will have during my time here.
